Carmelo Anthony is not happy with Kim Mulkey’s Angel and Co. for throwing their teammate under the bus. The NBA legend castigated Lady Tigers and their faulty defense of leaving Hailey Van Lith alone to brave the Clark cyclone in an epic rematch between Iowa and LSU that broke viewership records. Anthony’s comments questioned team relationships and strategic choices at a critical juncture. But could the irrepressible Caitlin Clark be controlled by Hailey Van Lith and the LSU stars?

Carmelo Anthony’s criticism was majorly focused on Angel Reese and her teammates, specifically how they handled a crucial circumstance featuring Van Lith. The veteran indicated that Van Lith was “stranded” by her teammates and unable to successfully challenge Clark’s control on the court, despite her toughness and effort.

The difficulties Van Lith experienced as a shorter player trying to guard against Clark’s height advantage and deadly shooting ability were highlighted by Anthony’s study. He drew attention to Van Lith’s teammates’ lack of support, emphasizing the value of effective team defense and interaction on the floor.

Carmelo Anthony shared thoughts on the Podcast, “Wemby Putting the NBA on Notice, Pressures of Expectation for Kiyan and Melo Answers Fan Questions”. Carmelo Anthony mentioned, “Hailey, to me, is dope. And she’s about it. She loved the big moments. And she took the big shots and she hit big shots. She loved the moment she took the challenge.” Anthony further stated, “And she’s small, like, I don’t want to use that as an excuse, but getting over those screens, uh, Caitlin can see. Like, it’s a height advantage for one. And you don’t have no help up there on the screen that high up by half court.”

Anthony’s observations act as an illustration of the complexity involved in NBA competition and the need for cooperation in attaining success on the floor as hoops fans continue to analyze the Elite 8 matchup between Iowa and LSU.
