The women’s division in the NCAA is witnessing some serious competition as we approach the mid-season. The initial months of this year’s competition saw some of the best women athletes putting their fiercest form on display. However, by the end of the year, the rankings have become a roller coaster ride. With the introduction of nine new faces to the list of the top 25 Women College Basketball players, fans have to keep up with the entertaining performances.

Not to anyone’s surprise, there is another face that has come up to the second rank and stands right after Caitlin Clark.

Cameron Brink bags the second spot

ESPN recently released their top 25 players in women’s college basketball for the 2023-24 season. To no one’s surprise, the Sporting News athlete of the year Caitlin Clark was the top choice. However, the surprising entry on the second spot was Stanford Cardinal’s powerful No.22 Cameron Brink. She ousted the likes of Paige Beuckers and USC’s freshman sensation, Juju Watkins, in the elite list. The 2021 NCAA champion has been among the most prolific scorers in the competition so far. She has played a vital part in placing the Cardinals at the 3rd spot in the Pac-12 Conference.

The 6-foot-4 power forward is leading the team in terms of points, rebounds, blocks, steals, field goals, and free throw percentage. Moreover, as a senior, she has delivered with her tremendous leadership qualities on the court. Brink has evolved her game this season by exhibiting her offensive skills to perfection. A two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Brink is now one of the top contenders to win the national award.

Furthermore, her numbers this season continue to impress everyone as the season progresses.

Cameron Brinks’ stats for 2023-24

Cameron Brink has done tremendous justice to her talent by making significant improvements to her numbers. She is currently averaging 19 points per game, which is 10 more than her PPG as a freshman. In addition to this, she ranks fourth in the country with her 3.5 blocks per game. Brink has an astonishing 94.0% accuracy in free throws and has a field goal percentage of 62.2. Also, she has grabbed 11 rebounds per game and has 37.5 efficiency from the 3-point range.

Cameron Brinks has been an exceptional performer for the Stanford Cardinals. There is no denying that she deserves to be recognized among the elites in the women’s division. We will have to wait and see how she upgrades her skills further and may try to catch up with the No. 1 spot on the list.
