After their loss to No. 15 USC, the Stanford Cardinals had a stellar night as they cruised past No. 7 UCLA in a dominant 80-60 victory. The sold-out crowd at Maples Pavilion saw the rise of the Cardinals, with Cameron Brink scoring a double-double.
Tara VanDerveer pulled the best out of her players and encouraged them to play to their strengths. Cameron Brink and Kiki Irafein lived up to the words of their coach as they scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, leading the way to the Stanford Cardinals victory.
Cameron Brink had a dominating game

Stanford was able to secure a victory with the impressive contributions of Cameron Brink, who recorded an impressive 19 points and 19 rebounds. Furthermore, her shooting accuracy improved on the field, as she successfully made 8 out of 10 shots.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Hannah Jump concluded the game with a solid 10 points, while Kiki Iriafen’s remarkable performance included scoring 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds. By out-rebounding UCLA 44-29, Stanford went 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Together, Iriafen and Brink blocked seven shots in the victory, with Brink blocking two consecutive shots to end the first quarter.
Coach Tara was proud of her squad as she praised her star players in a post-game interview. “So I really talked to Cam and Kiki about helping us run our offense and the first couple plays, you could see they were totally locked in, doing the right thing,” said the winning coach
How did the Cardinals perform?
With the exception of two points from Charisma Osborne, the Cardinals led the Bruins to only 12 points in the first quarter of the match as they stormed ahead 13-4. Stanford started the second half on a 10-2 run, and they had impressive shooting stats of 9/13. With that momentum flowing through the game, they secured a statement victory.

Even though UCLA made significant improvements in the second half, their comeback attempt was in vain, as the game had already slipped away from their grasp. Even though Stanford won’t have the opportunity to play against USC or UCLA in the remaining regular season games, the upcoming Pac-12 tournament next month guarantees an exhilarating showdown against either of these teams, thus creating a highly anticipated and thrilling battle in the conference’s final season together.
