Caitlin Clark has been the name on everyone’s minds these days. But can she continue to capture their attention as a professional baller? The impact that Iowa’s superstar has on women’s college basketball continues to grow with every game. After grabbing every major accolade and shattering every possible record, the 6-foot point guard just needs two more games to reach immortality. However, not everyone agrees that the Caitlin Clark effect can proceed after her college basketball journey.

Debating on the topic of how Clark can impact the WNBA as a league compared to the NBA, Fox Sports analysts put up their views. Chris Broussard welcomed former Fox contributor Rob Parker on his radio show to discuss the elephant in the room. While Broussard was all about Caitlin Clark being the missing ingredient for the WNBA, Parker was not as thrilled to join him. In fact, he said, “She is a unicorn that once I get a picture of her or once I see her, doesn’t mean I’m going to keep watching her.”

While the sports anchor for WXYZ-TV and WMYD agreed she is a phenomenal player, he simply denied Clark can change anything about the WNBA. He said, “People might wanna go see her game if she plays at Indiana. But are they going to go watch Liberty against Tulsa? Sure Indiana might have a bump in ticket sales. I don’t know man.”

His host disagreed with him as he compared the women’s league to the men’s. According to him, Magic, Bird, and Michael Jordan came to the league and were instant hits. And even though they didn’t sell tickets for other teams, the NBA got popular.

Nevertheless, Parker remained adamant about his perspective. Let us now look at how Clark has disrupted the number of views for college basketball.

The Caitlin Clark effect on views

It is no flashing news that ever since her entry, Clark has been named a sensation. However, Iowa experiencing the highest ticket sales and television views with her on the roster remains surprising. The senior NPOY contender has been phenomenal throughout her years with the Hawkeyes, but her last game with the Tigers broke the internet, once again.

Apparently, the regional finals received a whopping 12.3 million views at the packed Times Union Center. These television views were more than the last 18 of 23 NBA finals. Moreover, she even left the football league behind with more views than the last 18 of 23 World Series games.

The discussion, though, still remains. Whether she will be the messiah for the WNBA or not is still a secret, but will she still outperform many of the current superstars? Probably. With star-struck performances on the floor, the Iowa Hawkeyes guard has been nothing but amazing. What are your thoughts? Do you believe she will change the WNBA for good?
