After taking down Pete Maravich’s all-time scoring record, the question now comes to mind is what’s next for Caitlin Clark. Being considered one of the best offensive players to ever step foot on the court, Clark surely has justified every title provided to her. However, there are still some things that are at a stretch for the reigning national player of the year.

It is no news that Iowa’s iconic point guard is a tremendous passer of the ball. In fact, 8.7 assists per game this season is the best numbers currently in NCAA. But will she be the greatest-ever distributor in her final season?

After announcing the ongoing season as her last one with Hawkeyes, everyone has been trying to determine what else this formidable No.22 can achieve. While she has set major benchmarks in her scoring, the aim to have the most assists in her college basketball career appears to be a little far-fetched. She currently holds 1,058 career assists which places her sixth on the all-time list. However, this number is still 300 short of the top position which is currently occupied by Suzie McConnell’s tally of 1,307.

Nonetheless, she will still have a chance to feature in the top 5 by dishing out 30 more assists to her name. If somehow she doubles it, she will climb in the top 3. Assuming she crosses the 1165 mark can guarantee Clark second-best figures in Division I career assists.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to compare the numbers of both these exceptional athletes.

A comparative analysis of two ace assist-makers

Clark still has a chance to overcome her previous season’s number of 270, but it looks highly unlikely that she will reach the magical number of 355 set by Suzie in a single season. In addition to this, the 6ft point guard has a career average of 8.1 assists per contest. On the other hand, the 3-time PIAA champion maintained a career assist average of 10.2. Additionally, Suzie achieved these numbers by playing 128 games which are 2 less than the total career games of Caitlin Clark.
