Iowa’s poster girl Caitlin Clark is known to have a calm and composed personality both on and off the court. There is rarely an occasion when the Sporting News Athlete of the Year fails to keep her cool. However, the Bloomington Assembly Hall did witness an incident get under the skin of the dynamic point guard.

Caitlin Clark was involved in a heated on-court exchange with an opposition player. So, what really went down?

A struggling Iowa was trying to catch up with Indiana’s lead with over 8 minutes left in the second quarter. At this time, with the score 26-22 against the NCAA finalists, Clark attempted to sneak one past the Hoosiers. Unfortunately, her attempt wasn’t successful as Indiana’s No.12 Yarden Garzon got in her way. Moments later, the two were in each other’s faces and found themselves embroiled in a heated argument. Moreover, the spectators present saw an angry Clark lashing out at Garzon while returning to her teammates.

Seemingly, Yarden was complaining that Clark may have committed a foul while trying to score. Her objection didn’t go down well with Clark as she vented out on her in frustration. Following this, the officials intervened and cooled off the competitive conversation. Soon after, Caitlin was awarded a free throw which to everyone’s surprise she missed.

It was that kind of a day for the Hawkeyes as they suffered their fourth-season defeat.

Iowa stunned by the Hoosiers

A gripping contest between two quality sides ended with Iowa ending up on the losing side. Despite Caitlin Clark’s best efforts who scored a valiant double-double which included 24 points,10 rebounds, and 9 assists, the Hawkeyes were crushed 86-69 by the home team. In addition to this, senior guard Kate Martin also contributed with her 19 points. Meanwhile, it was a productive evening for Indiana as three of its players finished their night on double digits. The duo of Mackenzie Holmes and Sara Scalia added a total of 49 points between them. Further, Yarden Garzon also chipped in with her 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

It was a disappointing outing for Caitlin Clark and Co. in an important away fixture. While Clark was able to subvert her angle, she couldn’t secure a win against their formidable opponents. Consequently, the Hawkeyes need to regroup and get past this defeat before their next game.
