Former 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony is still competitive at the age of 39. However, it appears that he’s struggling to keep up with his son, Kiyan Anthony. Kiyan is a standout school basketball player and has been climbing the campus rankings. He’s a shooting guard for Long Island Lutheran High School and is rated 42nd in the class of 2025, according to the “2025 ESPN 50” rating. Kiyan believes that an NBA career could be possible for him due to his recent achievements.
In a latest interview with Stephen A. Smith, LaLa Anthony dealt with the question about her son Kiyan as she shed a few insights on the parenting they impose on him despite being the star kid of Carmelo Anthony.

Kiyan Anthony has been in the NBA spotlight for years, thanks to his father. Growing up as the son of an NBA legend has its pros and cons. The biggest advantage for Kiyan is that his father can share a lot of basketball expertise with him.
However, Kiyan doesn’t want to become famous just because of his father’s name. Recently, Stephen A. Smith interviewed LaLa Anthony about Kiyan’s upbringing. Kiyan’s parents haven’t put any pressure on him and have allowed him to shine on his own. “Melo and I don’t put any pressure on him; we will let him know that we support him.”
Kiyan himself said that it was only in the past year that he realized playing in the NBA was a possibility for him. He has also worked hard to improve his game this year, and he believes he can compete with the best high school basketball players in the country.

At the City of Palms Classic on Tuesday, Kiyan Anthony, a 4-star recruit who is ranked No. 38 overall in 247Sports’ composite list of boys basketball players in the class of 2025, scored 12 points to help Long Island Lutheran defeat Westminster Academy 83-59.
Leading a strong squad that has gone 6-0 with an average victory margin of 28.8 points per game, the younger Anthony is remarkably blazing his own brilliant career.
