J’Vonne Hadley (15 points and 9 rebounds), Tristan da Silva (12 points and 4 rebounds) and 13 points from Cody Williams inspired an impressive second-half comeback to knock down the visiting USC Trojans 68-58 in a high-octane clash on Saturday.
USC took the court without their faces Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier at the Coors Event Center. After a disheartening 72-64 defeat against Washington State, the Trojans were looking to turn things around in the conference plays of the Pac-12. However, USC failed to capitalize on their commanding first-half performance and ended up on the losing side yet again.
USC fall despite first-half advantage

USC looked the better team in the initial minutes of the opening half. Senior Forward DJ Rodman and Vincent Iwuchukwu got the Trojans an early lead over the home team. Soon after, No.4 Oziyah Sellers also joined the two to further assert USC’s dominance on the Buffs. Moreover, he became the first baller of the night to enter double-digits. The three of them ensured that the Trojans had a firm grip over the game before the first half ended. As a result, when the officials called off the half. USC was sitting comfortably on 37-24.
However, Colorado made their way back into the game in the second half. J’Vonne Hadley and Tristan da Silva along with forward Cody Williams got the hosts on a 12-2 run in the first five minutes. The vulnerable defense of USC’s backcourt cost them again as Colorado brought the lead down to just 2 points with 13 minutes still left on the clock. Consequently, the Trojans found themselves trailing pretty soon.

Eventually, a sole effort from Oziyah Sellers (18 points 3 rebounds) wasn’t enough to end USC’s misery. In the end, the fortunes overturned for them in the second-half as they suffered their 9th defeat of the season.
Oziyah Sellers’ one-man show as Bronny fails yet again
Sophomore guard Oziyah Sellers was the USC’s standout performer of the night. He stepped up for the Trojans in the absence of both Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier. The 6′ 5″ baller delivered a career-high 18 points and 3 rebounds and ended up being the leading scorer for USC. Meanwhile, for the second night in a row, LeBron’s eldest son Bronny struggled on the court and ended up without a point. The 19-year-old could only distribute 1 assist and grabbed 2 rebounds to end his poor outing.

Trouble in paradise for the Trojans as nothing seems to work for Andy Enfield at the moment. Evidently, the absence of two of their star performers Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier proved to be a major reason behind their defeat. Further, the inexperience on USC’s defensive front is something that needs immediate attention by the team management.
