Will Kiyan Anthony follow in his father's footsteps, or carve his own path away from Syracuse?

Which program to roll into can be a huge decision. And seems like Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony has made up his mind. He was first slated to announce his commitment decision in late October to the first week of November. Then he shortlisted three colleges out of six in favor of USC, Syracuse, and Auburn. While appearing on Angel Reese’s podcast Unapologetically Angel on Thursday, he shared that he would be revealing his decision in “two weeks.” Now, the four-star recruit has dropped the exact date of his college commitment decision and what went into making the much-awaited choice.

On Saturday, recruiting analyst Dushawn London tweeted that Kiyan would be divulging his choice on Friday, November 15th on his father’s show 7 pm in Brooklyn. While Melo stated that he won’t influence his son’s choice, considering his alma mater Syracuse is in the race, the theme of the episode is certainly going to attract many.

Kiyan is a four-star recruit and a Top 35 prospect for the class of 2025. He has shortlisted three colleges as mentioned before: USC, Auburn, and Syracuse. While Auburn can be a fine choice considering they need Kiyan for his exceptional offensive skills, the Trojans head coach Eric Musselman as per him “gets players drafted and in the lottery. They also produce players of my archetype and get them to the league.”

But he is not completely cutting off Auburn either, “Bruce Pearl has gotten a bunch of players at my position to the league and has a track record of winning and making the NCAA tournament.” His friends Jakai Howard and Tahaad Pettiford are already a part of the Tigers.

Meanwhile, his third choice, Syracuse, has a bit of nostalgia attached to it as Melo used to ply his trade for the program from 2002-03 and then got to play with the Nuggets. About the program, he mentioned how they believe in him and have been recruiting him since day 1. He further added, ” I feel like they’re really building something there and if I were to go there I could be a part of that.”

Therefore, becoming part of the Orange would mean ample support from the crowd and of course, joining his friend Sadiq White. Now the factors he considers more important might find him choosing one of three. However, the Colorado-born had revealed how he would go about making a decision.

“Just like what coaches been on me the latest and where I could go in right away. And you know, see growth, and where I could develop my game, and just try to win like whatever the coaches tell me. Like they can see me playing where my role is all of that goes into. Like, you know, where I choose. So I still got a couple weeks to decide, but it’s getting close… It’s no pressure but I feel it, though. I can hear it. I can hear everybody talk about it. Everybody talking, everybody want to know where Kiyan going,” Anthony stated when Reese asked“What’s going to be the deciding factor for you?”

While Kiyan officially visited Syracuse on 19th October this year, he officially visited USC on 14th September. Though the exact timeline for his Auburn visit isn’t available, he had planned one in September. However, if On3 is to be believed, then Kiyan might choose Syracuse since he has family ties with the program. He himself had revealed that “I go there a lot and I practice, I work out there.” But well fans can put a pause on their speculation as 15th November isn’t far off. And Kiyan himself will reveal his choice on that day.
