Dan Hurley’s Huskies had high hopes of a three-peat this season, but instead, they’ve become the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons! With an overall record of 16-7 and a Big East record of 8-4, the defending champs are struggling to find their rhythm, and their inconsistency has left fans and analysts alike scratching their heads. The latest Associated Press poll didn’t do them any favors, either
Dan Hurley’s Huskies took a gut punch this week, crashing out of the AP poll for the first time this season after a loss to 9th-seeded St. John’s. This marks a bitter fall from grace for the defending champs, who have struggled to find their footing in a season full of highs and lows.
But the real jaw-dropper according to the fans? Auburn somehow clings to their No. 1 spot despite a brutal 81-90 loss to a now third-seeded Florida.

The fans think that the Alabama Crimson Tide who went from being the third seed to second following their wins against Arkansas and Georgia should be ahead of the Bruce Pearl-led side with both teams boasting the same 9-1 SEC record. Fans took to social media platforms to vent their frustrations!
Let’s take a look at what the fans have to say about the latest AP rankings!
Fan fume watching Auburn retain its top spot
Fans were absolutely fuming over Auburn’s surprising retention of the top spot despite their crushing loss. One frustrated fan took to X, voicing a question that had everyone scratching their heads: “How does Auburn lose and remain, while Tennessee wins 2 and drops???” Another fan couldn’t hold back, venting out, “Lmao Auburn doesn’t drop.” And yet another fan chimed in with disbelief, saying, “That’s actually crazy Auburn remains at 1.” The outrage is real, and it’s clear that the fans are demanding answers!

Tennessee dropping to fifth after their impressive wins over Missouri and Oklahoma left fans scratching their heads, but Auburn’s retention of the top spot isn’t too surprising when you think about it, without bias, of course! Auburn still boasts the best overall record in the country (21-2), which likely played a big role in their continued dominance at the top. But Tennessee dropping a spot after two solid victories? That is something unexplainable!
The frustration boiled over as a fan boldly offered their own theory for Auburn’s unshakable hold on the top spot. Venting on X, they didn’t hold back, saying, “AP poll has su–ed Auburn’s cock for 15 years. Bama is the real #1.” It’s clear this fan isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to their thoughts on the rankings!
While I’m not jumping on the “Auburn bias” bandwagon, I totally get why Alabama fans are heated over this week’s AP poll. But hey, there’s a showdown brewing this Saturday, February 15th, when Auburn and Alabama face off at the legendary Coleman Coliseum, the home of the Crimson Tide. The winner of this game could very well walk away with that coveted #1 seed.
