Cam’Ron Fletcher’s promising career was put on hold after he was ruled out at the end of the season with a knee injury, which he picked up in December playing against North Carolina. This was his second grave injury that required surgery in the same knee. Recently, the Florida State Seminoles guard Cam’Ron Fletcher posted a picture on his Instagram story sharing that he had undergone a successful knee surgery.
It can only be imagined how much comfort this great news must have brought to Fletcher’s well-wishers including his girlfriend, the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers star Angel Reese. This brought a sigh of relief to a lot of fans. He had captioned the Instagram pic on his story as “Surgery went good slimes.”

Fletcher has been well supported by Reese in every step of his battle with the injury. Reese looked worried before the surgery and had posted a note for her boyfriend as a heartwarming gesture. She wrote, “God please protect Cam’Ron as he has surgery today! I love you bookies! God gives his toughest battles to his toughest soldiers! You’ve been through so much & this is so small to a giant. Road back to recovery. I got your back, LET’S DO THIS!!,” Reese had posted on her social media networking site Instagram’s story. Fletcher could be seen in a hospital gown in the picture.
When Fletcher had sustained the ACL injury during a game against the North Carolina Tar Heels in early December, Reese had made sure to support her boyfriend. Fletcher too showered back the appreciation for Reese stating “You make me feel like the biggest even when I’m at my lowest.” However, this was not the first time that the senior guard had suffered a season-ending injury.
The last time Fletcher had injured the ACL in the same knee was when he was plying his trade against the Virginia Cavaliers in December 2022. The Seminoles much like their game against the Tar Heels lost the match against the Cavaliers. Fletcher had to be sidelined for the rest of the season and was identified with an ACL tear.
He had then undergone knee surgery in January 2023 and could not participate for the rest of the season. He had also tried rehabilitation and recovered within time to make a comeback this season much to the delight of his fans and coach.
At the time of the injury, it was unclear whether he would be able to make a return this season. But much to the dismay of Fletcher, this season too ended with an injury.

Fletcher had shown his defensive excellence against the Cavaliers in that game. He had nabbed 7 rebounds. However, his shooting skills had suffered in that match as he could pot a paltry 2 points and shot just 1-for-7 field goals in that game. He played only 10 games in that season and throttled an average of 10.8 points per game with 7.5 rebounds per match. It has been the highest career average in any season so far.
Cam’Ron Fletcher’s setbacks with injuries in his college basketball career
Previously Fletcher had suffered injuries twice. The first time it happened was during their game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. And the sad news for the Seminoles was that two of their players were injured – Cam’Ron Fletcher being one of them. He had twisted his ankle. He could only play for 12 minutes in the game and basketed 5 points.
The head coach Leonard Hamilton had lookecd worried back then. But to everyone’s delight, Fletcher made a comeback in the game against the Pittsburgh Panthers. He looked fit and fine contributing his part in the contest with 9 points and 7 rebounds. But Fletcher’s recovery was only for the time being as he suffered another injury that season.
His comeback that had happened against the Pittsburgh Panthers wasn’t the hint of playing throughout, rather his injury against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons marked the first in line at the college basketball level of what was to happen again and again during his NCAA seasons.

The St. Louis-born then suffered an injury when playing against the Notre Dame. He was diving for a loose ball and injured himself in the attempt. Though the Seminoles won the contest by a 74-70 margin, they lost Fletcher for the rest of the season and had to undergo a thumb surgery.
He thus had to miss the games the next games starting with the contest against the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was an important athlete for the Seminoles who averaged 6.8 points per game with 3.4 rebounds per match.
It was a saddening loss for the Seminoles and also disheartening for Fletcher because he had improved upon his numbers ever since his transfer from the Kentucky Wildcats. He was beginning to show the talent he possessed but unfortunately couldn’t live up to his potential due to the injury.

With this surgery hopefully, Fletcher will recover too and undergo rehab. His next steps in his career are unknown since this was his senior year. And the best his fans can hope is for Fletcher to manage his career with maturity. His next decision, whatever it is, will certainly get best wishes from his wellwishers including Reese.
