What is Tommy Lloyd’s contract with the Arizona Wildcats?
There is no doubt that Tommy Lloyd has been a championship-caliber coach in his first four seasons. He hasn’t missed the NCAA Tournament even once, and three Sweet Sixteen visits in four years is quite impressive for a first-time head coach. For all his hard work, the University of Arizona awarded him with a contract extension!
In 2024, they announced an extension for the Wildcats head coach for five years through the 2029 season, bumping up his base salary by over a million dollars! Lloyd’s new base salary is $5.25 million in his first year, and will increase to $6 million by year 5. Not only that, he will get additional duties pay, plus funding from collaborations with Nike and Learfield.
Lloyd’s contract extension is a huge deal! It propelled him into the upper echelon of college coaches in terms of salary, and he expressed a lot of gratitude for the opportunity. “I am humbled and grateful to finalize a long-term extension here at the University of Arizona,” He said. “I am energized by the support of our fans, our players, our alumni, President Robbins, the Board of Regents and our donors.” But his extension begs one question.
How much will Tommy Lloyd earn in the 2024-25 NCAA season?
Tommy Lloyd, even with all of his success, is a relatively new coach. By 2025, he has only been a head coach for the past four years, and hasn’t gone further than the Sweet Sixteen. However, the changes that he’s made to the culture of Arizona basketball has been immense! His efforts were recognized by the school in the form of a five-year contract extension.
The hefty extension skyrocketed his yearly pay. Tommy Lloyd, in the 2024-25 season, is set to make over $5.25 million! A huge step up from his salary last year, and one of the highest compensation packages for his experience in college basketball. There’s an annual escalator, and a lot of bonuses involved as well!
