After Iowa University showcased the talent show with record-breaking spectatorship at Kinnick Stadium, it’s time for Angel Reese’s team to show off their support. And the numbers are already astounding. Apart from the much-hogged Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark rivalry, fans are now supporting their teams based on sold-out arenas.
The LSU anticipated to go for a title run this year, having been chosen as the media favorite of all-SEC teams. The season is also special for the Lady Tigers, as it’s the last college outing for Reese. But amid all the hype and hoopla around ticket sales, Coach Kim Mulkey taking a pride in her star-studded roster doesn’t seem surprised.

The Tigers’ season ticket allocation for their national title defense has nearly been completely sold out thanks to star forward Angel Reese. As of Wednesday, the team said on X, there were just 750 tickets left. As of September 13, over 8,300 had been sold, a 56% increase over the prior season.
Kim Mulkey, in a recent interview with ESPN, shared her take on the surge in tickets for the game. The anchor asked Mulkey, “The tickets at Assembly Center are almost sold out.”
Kim replied: “It sends a message about how much our program is valued and how much our program is appreciated.”

A record sale
The Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, which has 13,215 seats, is the home court for the LSU men’s and women’s basketball teams. A crowd of 2,500 spectators attended the women’s team’s first practice on Monday, following their victory in the NCAA tournament in April. Aneesah Morrow and Hailey Van Lith from the transfer portal could help the club challenge for a second title this year.
The LSU Board of Supervisors authorized a price increase in early September, coinciding with season ticket sales. The cost of a season ticket went up from $25 to $75, depending on the level.
