A bedazzled PMAC got LSU’s 2024 underway as they hosted the Missouri Tigers on Thursday night. After ending their New Year’s Eve on a high in a resounding 110-68 over Jacksonville, Angel Reese and Co. were looking to extend their NCAA winning streak in their SEC opener.

Following this, Flau’jae Johnson’s 24 points along with a double-double from Reese and Morrow helps LSU glide past Missouri 92-72 at home.

LSU knocked down Missouri in their SEC opener

The Lady Tigers were the first team to get the points on the scoreboard in the opening minute of the first half. A successful pass from Mikayla Williams saw Aneesah Morrow bury 2 points from a tight spot. She along with Flau’jae Johnson kept LSU ahead in the opening quarter. Although senior forward Hayley Frank made sure to keep the visitors within touching distance. As a result, LSU was just a point ahead at the first buzzer. LSU’s struggle to defend its 3-point line continued as they started the second quarter trailing Missouri. However, Van Lith and Johnson started giving an aggressive response to Missouri’s physicality. Consequently, that allowed the All-American forward–Angel Reese–to bring back the lead for the defending champions at half-time.

In addition to this, Reese began the second-half further building on the 39-32 lead they had in the opening half. Moreover, Johnson and Morrow were at their absolute best to give LSU a 17-point lead in the first 4 minutes of the third quarter. Johnson quickly reached the 20-point mark while Reese got close to registering another double-double. Mikayla Williams joined the party in the penultimate quarter and became the fourth LSU player to enter double digits.

Eventually, Morrow closed the game with a double-double along with Reese to secure a comfortable 92-72 victory in their opening conference game.

The lethal combination comprising the trio of Reese, Morrow and Johnson inspired a comfortable victory for the reigning national champions. Aneesaah Morrow led the LSU scoring chart bagging 25 points and 10 points as Reese finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds along with 4 assists. Meanwhile, Johnson also kicked in with 24 valuable points and grabbed 5 rebounds with 3 assists.

The LSU Tigers have made a fantastic start to their New Year. With their 14th consecutive win, the Lady Tigers are steam rolling the competition and making emphatic statements along the way. Furthermore, all the big guns in LSU’s locker room are clicking for them at the right time.
