It always seems impossible until it’s done. Women athletes probably live by this thought every day as it gives them the courage to tread on despite being scared to death or fear if things won’t work out the way they wished. Acing in this kind of mindset is Angel Reese aka Bayou Barbie. Standing up and making an impact for the betterment has always been her approach to life. Moreover, it is like a celebration for her if she finds someone else walking on the same path.

WNBA star A’ja Wilson is making a stir with her new book which despite being literary, goes beyond like a tool for empowerment and inspiration. Let’s see what Angel Reese feels about this wholesome wonder created for young Black girls.

In one of her recent Instagram stories, Angel Reese shared a picture of A’ja Wilson’s new book called ‘Dear Black Girls: How to be True to You’. She wrote a heartfelt message to A’ja thanking her for being the center of liberation for many girls: “So excited for this new read! Thank you A for being such an inspiration to me and other Black girls!”

The book is a collection of true stories from A’ja’s life that explores what it means to grow up as a Black girl in America. Moreover, the book gets its depth and authenticity from her time in the NCAA as she was an outstanding player for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks as she carried her team to the 2017 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship title. The release of this book is like catching a dream for A’ja.

When it comes to Angel, she too has always been a vocal advocate for Black girls, however, she not only walks the talk but also embodies her truth which is very well reflected in her words, “I don’t fit the narrative; I don’t fit in the box y’all want me to be in. I’m too hood, I’m too ghetto — y’all told me that all year. So this is for the girls that look like me, that’s going to speak up on what you believe in. It’s unapologetically you, and that’s what I did it for tonight.”

More to this expression, Reese also established the Angel C. Reese Foundation which aims at fostering quality for girls and underrepresented groups through innovative and impactful initiatives.
