Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have long been arch-enemies. However, with the Iowa star reaching the top spot last night, the Lady Tiger could not help but cheer for her contemporary. Clark, undoubtedly a Hawkeye phenomenon, became the all-time leading scorer in women’s college basketball Division I, overtaking Kelsey Plum’s record of 3,527 points. Notably, she achieved this feat wearing the Kobe Bryant Specials, Nike Kobe 5 Protro.

While sports tend to rely on their competitiveness, it is important to note that players are not simply competing on the hardwood. But, they are also supporting each other outside it.

Angel Reese recently took to her Twitter account to salute the score-making machine of Iowa, Caitlin Clark. She shared the official Iowa Women’s Basketball post on her account for this. Additionally, in her tweet, Angel said, “Congratulations @CaitlinClark22 KEEP BREAKING RECORDS & MAKING HER-STORY!”

Not only was this an appreciable display of class, but her wordplay on ‘herstory’ was also quite appealing to many. Reese and Clark may once again come neck-to-neck further in the NCAA season. However, she still congratulated the athlete showing that being tough competitors to each other on the court has nothing to do with applauding each other’s victories.

Putting up a whopping 49 points on the night, Clark made history in style wearing the Kobe Bryant special edition sneakers inspired by Bruce Lee’s “Jeet Kune Do.” Kobe used these to adapt and react to the spontaneity of the sport. The Kobe 5 Protro ‘Bruce Lee’ is understandably a great choice for the day, as Caitlin, going by her game average, would have already known she would break the record.

It is also delightful to see how Reese wishes the best for her on-court rivals. Perhaps, Reese is confident in where she is and knows that the two can run at different paces.
