The Louisiana State University Lady Tigers emerged out of a 2 game slump when they defeated the Florida Gators. Now that they undid the Vanderbilt Commodores by an 85-62 margin at the Vanderbilt University Memorial Gym on Thursday, the talks about their comeback took center stage. The Lady Tigers star Angel Reese made an appearance in the post-game interview to talk about the LSU’s issues.

Reese spoke about their two-game debacle first against the Gamecocks and then against the Mississippi State and how her team has emerged out of it. And fans were thrilled to know about the LSU’s process.

On being questioned about what helped the LSU make a comeback, Reese frankly expressed the method that propelled them to back-to-back wins. Her answer had the fans drooling over the team bonding in the Kim Mulkey-coached team and even gave a glimpse of what makes champions.

“Holding everybody accountable, looking in the mirror, and things that you need to work on personally that can help the team. Just having each other’s back. I mean that was something that we needed after a Mississippi State game, we were devastated and we were really disappointed within ourselves. We didn’t point the finger at anybody else but ourselves, so just coming together and not touching the basketball really helps. I think we need to start doing that more,” Reese had stated.

The players and the fans were extremely disappointed when the LSU Lady Tigers had lost against the Mississippi State. While the game against the South Carolina was expected to be a close competition since both the teams are ranked, the loss against the Mississippi State was a complete shock to the LSU followers. Following that game there was a lot of discussion around the things that had gone wrong for the LSU.

Their head coach Kim Mulkey had underlined the defensive woes. While the Gamecocks had comprehensively beaten the Lady Tigers in the fourth quarter with a 24-14 margin, Angel Reese & Co. had a lackluster performance during the third quarter against the Bulldogs. They were beaten by a 28-17 margin which raised an alarm among the LSU fans. But Mulkey remained calm and composed throughout the storm.

What did Mulkey say?

The 61-year-old didn’t seem to be taken aback by the losses, pointing out that her team was one of the best in the record. She had also quipped that during her coaching career, she had seen such situations before stating “i’ve been in this position many times.” She had also gone on to enunciate that the loss against the Bulldogs “was not surprising.” However, she did point to the defensive woes of her team.

With the LSU bringing back their best game against the Vanderbilt, they still remain in contention for the tournament title. And it wouldn’t be surprising if they clinch the championship by continuing their on-song performances. And for that to happen, they will have to solve all their issues just like they did recently.
