Both the NCAA finalists have suffered their first defeats of the season. While Angel Reese’s LSU lost on opening night against #2o Colorado, the Hawkeyes had to face a similar fate at home against Kansas. As a result, the star attractions of the 2023 championship game–Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark–are the soft targets for the haters. The critics are quick to pounce on any chance they get to show their disappointment.

Angel Reese has been already dealing with a lot of hate on social media. Now it’s Clark’s turn to face the music. Fans supporting Angel Reese wasted no time to rub Iowa’s defeat on Caitlin’s face.

Fan verdict on Caitlin’s performance

The fans have been very vocal about Caitlin’s poor show which led to Iowa’s home loss. As a result, X is flooded with a range of negative comments directed towards Clark.

One of the fans took to Twitter and labeled the AP Player Of The Year as “Overrated.” 

Some of them were quick to criticize her with facts. One of them wrote, “Speaking of PU, Caitlin Clark 9-of-32 from the field? Yuck.”

Some of the Hawkeyes supporters showed their disappointment towards the star guard. One fan tweeted, “Really don’t care how “good” a player is. 32 shots (9 makes) is horrendous. Lookin at you Caitlin Clark and 3 dimes while being cold.”

There were also some sarcastic comments from some people. One of them wrote, “Caitlin Clark? Never heard of her.”

Nonetheless, there was one supporter of Caitlin Clark amidst the haters. He said, “Caitlin Clark carrying Iowa like LeBron with Cleveland his first go around.”

The fans are not happy with the fact that despite losing in the Finals, Caitlin Clark has won so many individual honors in 2023 in comparison to Angel Reese. Clark bested Reese in the tournament and became the Division I Academic All-American of the Year. This is just the start of a long list of accolades that she grabbed in her last campaign. Caitlin was the unanimous pick for the AP All-American pre-season women’s team.

Moreover, the No.22 was also the Big Ten preseason Player of the Year. Additionally, she left behind Angel Reese to collect the Naismith College Player of the Year for 2023. Furthermore, USBWA also recognized Clark as their National Player of 2023. Clark is also honored with the James E. Sullivan Award, Honda Sports Award, and James E. Sullivan Award in 2023.
