As the Lady Tigers’ star player Angel Reese returned to action in a match against Virginia Tech, many were left in awe including her ‘Uncle Shaq’. Fans had more than one reason to jump from their seats as both Reese and her coach achieved an incredible career milestone.

The world was taken aback on November 14th, during the LSU Tigers v/s Kent State Golden Flashes game, when Kim Mulkey decided to sub-out her star player. Since then, Reese has been sidelined for four straight games. While the Tigers still won every game without her, the fans were eagerly waiting for their star to show up. 

A remarkable feat for Angel Reese and Kim Mulkey

On Wednesday, coach Mulkey announced long-awaited news in an interview that Reese will be rejoining the team after being sidelined indefinitely. The highly anticipated return took center-stage in the game against the Virginia Tech Hokies. But, Reese had more than one reason to be happy about. 

Just moments before the game’s tipoff, Reese was honored for recording her 1,000th career rebound this season. The arena buzzed with applause and cheers as Reese shared a heartfelt hug with her coach. 

The Tigers won the game with a final score of 82-64, in which Reese recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists, as they secured their eighth win of the 2023-24 NCAA season. But, this win wasn’t just another victory for the team as it marked an impressive career milestone for their head coach Kim Mulkey. With this win, Coach Mulkey became the quickest coach in men’s or women’s history to record 700 wins, and that too in just 813 games.

Notably, as the Tiger’s star player and coach celebrate their impressive achievements, the team is back to becoming an unstoppable force in the league.

The Tigers back-to-back victories 

The Lady Tigers started this season with a huge upset as they lost to a No.20 ranked team. But, they have more than made up for it as they came back stronger and won every match.

So far, they have played nine matches out of which they have won eight with an average score difference of 35.7 points. And now, with Angel Reese back on the team they will adding more momentum to their stride.
