A 17th double-double from Angel Reese (25 points, 20 rebounds) and 11 points along with 6 rebounds from Flau’jae Johnson helped LSU avenge their previous loss to the Auburn Tigers. After their disappointing trip to the Auburn Arena last time around, Kim Mulkey’s crew settled the scores in a close 71-66 win over the visiting Tigers.
However, the victory didn’t come easy for the defending champions as they had to toil their way through the entire night. Nevertheless, they managed to hold their nerves in the closing moments and got their 23rd win of the season.

Both teams made a reasonable start to the game with some quick scoring reflexes. At this point, LSU’s No.24 Aneesah Morrow picked up some pace and created some separation between the two teams. But, Auburn kept capitalizing on the turnovers and their efficiency from the field kept them within touching distance. Following this, senior guard Honesty Scott-Grayson got the visitors ahead for a brief time before Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson stepped up to make sure LSU ended the first quarter with a 2-point lead.
The back-and-forth battle continued in the second quarter as well. At the same time, Scott-Grayson became the first player to register a double-digit score for the night. She kept testing LSU’s defense with her fearless and resounding approach. Moreover, the visiting Tigers were showing their further shooting prowess from beyond the arc as they were 5 of 7 from the 3-point range before half-time. In spite of that, a late offensive surge ensured the home finished the first half at 40-30.

The All-American forward Angel Reese along with Flau’jae Johnson further tried to extend the lead for the Lady Tigers. In spite of that, Auburn kept their resistance going and bridged the gap between both the teams. Consequently, they were able to put 19 points in response to LSU’s 18 in the third quarter. In the end, a valiant effort from Honesty Scott-Grayson who finished her night with 28 points and 4 rebounds wasn’t enough to get Auburn over the line.
