A major upset was on the cards in the Big East tournament Thursday night. A sold-out Madison Square Garden witnessed a gripping quarterfinal in which the Providence Friars took down the mighty Creighton Bluejays. Despite their best efforts, the Bluejays couldn’t get the desired result as they were stunned by this year’s Big East player of the year–Devin Carter. The junior guard produced a scintillating exhibition by perfectly exploiting the loopholes in Creighton’s defense.

Devin Carter proved last night on the court why he is the best player in the Big East at the moment. His swift movement along with his ability to score from tight corners turned out to be a nightmare for the No.8 seeded team. In addition to this, Carter halting Ryan Kalkbrenner’s attempt to score just on the brink of half-time became one of the highlights of his defensive capabilities. As a result, his 40 minutes on the court produced an immaculate double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.
