Caitlin Clark has done it once again. She has broken another record and with it become the leading scorer in the men’s and women’s basketball college circuit combined. She dropped an exemplary free throw to become the leading scorer.

In the process, she surpassed Antoine Davis and the legendary Pete Maravich to register her name in the record books. Just in her last game, she had eclipsed Lynette Woodard to take her tally to 3,650 career points. However, this is not the first time that the Iowa Star has inscribed milestones. She has been doing so since her freshman year. 

What other records does Clark have?

With 799 points in her freshman year, Clark was posited at the numero uno spot in the NCAA D1 in scoring. She also became the first freshman to bag the coveted ‘Dawn Staley’ award. She also shared the Tamika Catchings Award with the University of Huskies sensation Paige Bueckers. Clark even went onto record the highest points at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in one game.

During her sophomore year, as is the case Clark scored abundantly. She thrashed an average of 30.1 points per game, becoming the fastest player to reach 1000 career points in the Big Ten. She also decimated back-to-back triple-doubles with 30 or more points, becoming the first player to do so. She supported the Iowa Hawkeye with 18 assists in a single game and thus became the first player to have such a high number of assists in the Iowa’s history. This tied her for the most assists in a single game in her conference.

With exemplary performance, the Des Moines-born became the first woman to sit atop the D1 in points and assists per game. As mentioned previously, she had 30.1 points per contest and 9 assists per outing. She also became the first athlete to win the Dawn Staley award consecutively.

She tied with Elena Delle for being the swiftest player to reach 2000 career points. She also became the first player to have a 30 or 40-pointer triple-double. In this season, she amassed 1055 points and 327 assists thus registering another milestone as the first player to have at least 900 points and 300 assists in a single season. Clark became the first athlete to have back-to-back 40-pointer games.

With 8-for-19 three-pointers she became the leading three-point scorer in a title game for both men’s and women’s college basketball combined. She had the most assists by a woman athlete in NCAA history in the tournament Finale. She swept all the major national Player of the Year awards this season and became the first player to bag the Dawn Staley award thrice.

And now in her senior year, Clark has the most 30-pointer games in the men’s and women’s college basketball combined in the last 25 seasons. She is Iowa’s and Big Ten’s leader in assists. She recently surpassed the former Idaho player Taylor Pierce in having the most three-pointers in a singular season.  And with her most recent performance, Clark created a legacy of her own. Hopefully, she will continue to break records as she enters the WNBA.
