The Louisville Cardinals have made a dreadful start to their NCAA campaign. After their disastrous 4–28 record in their previous season, they are currently second from the bottom in the Atlantic Coast. Adding insult to injury, the three-time NCAA champions were lately humiliated by their arch-rivals Kentucky at home 76-95.

Soon after the loss, there has been a persistent and pressing demand for the removal of head coach Kenny Payne. Following this, some of the popular observers of the game came together and had a discussion about the matter.

John Fanta, Tyler Hansbrough and Randolph Childress appeared on The Field Of 68: After Dark to express their opinions about Louisville’s downfall. During the podcast, John Fanta pointed out that the home team crowd was more blue than it was red. After which, he asked former NCAA champion Tyler Hansbrough about the current state of the Cardinals. To which he replied, “It’s a very difficult situation. It’s not too optimistic in its current state. A lot of people have been raising questions about whether Kenny Payne is the person or whatever. I don’t have the answer on that, but I do know that when I watch them, sometimes it doesn’t seem that the team is in sync.”

Louisville has been out of sorts since the start of the season. They have just won 5 out of their 12 games so far. Moreover, they have lost 5 out of their 10 games at home. Apparently, one of the reasons why they are having such a poor run of form is the dysfunction within the team. Tyler further added, “When I do watch some of the post-game press conferences, there are some odd statements floating. There has been a lot of dysfunction which is never a good situation. Louisville is a traditional powerhouse in college basketball. At some point, they will figure it out whether be with Kenny Payne or somebody else.”

Broadcaster and Reporter John Fanta opened up about his views on whether or not Louisville should retain Kenny Payne for the rest of the season or not. He said, “Kenny Paine is a good man, but it’s 9 and 35. He’s 9 and 35 as the head coach of Louisville basketball. That’s not just getting it done man. This is playing sad. It’s embarrassing and if you’re Louisville Cardinal, it’s time for a change.”

Kenny Payne’s fate has been hanging in the balance. It’s only a matter of time before the athletics director Josh Heird replaces him with someone else. Nonetheless, fans will still hope to see their team pick themselves up and perform to the best of its abilities.
