USC had to swallow a bitter pill of defeat in overtime against Long Beach in their previous encounter. The Trojans choked in the closing moments at the Galen Center to suffer a heartbreaking loss on home turf. Following this, they traveled to the Neville Arena in Auburn to get their campaign back on track after two back-to-back disappointing losses.

It was a tough challenge for USC as the Auburn Tigers have been victorious in 7 out of their last 8 games. However, they couldn’t turn their fortune around as Auburn secure a comfortable 91-75 victory over them.

Both the teams gave an exciting start to the game as they came out all guns blazing . Subsequently, the Trojans got themselves ahead in the opening 3 minutes and gained the upper hand over the Tigers by 3 points. However, Auburn bounced back into the game scoring the next 11 points in quick succession. Forward Jaylin Williams stormed his way past USC’s defense and landed 8 out of those 11. Hereinafter, they didn’t let their guard down and kept pilling on to the scoreboard. Regardless, two of the big guns from USC’s camps Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier made sure to keep the Trojans in the contest. As a result, USC trailed Auburn by 14 points by the end of the first half.

Freshman guard Aden Holloway widened the gap between both teams at the beginning of the second half. The 6′ 1″ athlete joined Williams and became the second Auburn Tiger with a double-digit score. Moreover, dynamic No.4 Johni Broome also chipped in and further extended the lead. On the other hand, Boogie Ellis kept fighting a lone battle for the Trojans as he didn’t get any support from the rest of his teammates.

USC now has lost 3 games in a row seems to be in trouble in their NCAA campaign. With this loss, they now have a 50-50 record of 5 wins and 5 losses. However, their loss to Auburn saw their No.5 Boogie Ellis justifying his place in the squad. The senior guard fought a lone battle and was the only player who dared to take the fight to the Tigers. The Auburn Arena saw the 23-year-old exhibiting his skills to perfection and stood tall against a quality side like Auburn. Unfortunately, his resilient attitude wasn’t enough to hand USC a win.

The USC Trojans have to think something quickly if they want to get their NCAA campaign back on track. With a hat trick of losses, head coach Andy Enfield is under a lot of scrutiny for the way he’s handling his team. Furthermore, their inefficiency in executing their plans on the court is costing them dearly.
