A series of interesting developments followed the Lady Tigers after their heartbreaking exit from the March Madness. Two of their star performers Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith have decided that it is time to explore fresh avenues outside LSU’s locker room.

While the three-time All-American Reese declared for the upcoming WNBA draft, the 5′ 7″ guard wants to represent a different program in her next season. Following Van Lith’s decision to enter the transfer portal, Reese subtly extended her support to her on social media.

After facing heavy backlash for their loss against Iowa in the regional finals, both Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith are out there supporting each other. Earlier, the talented No.11 came out in defense of Reese after she opened up about the whole social media abuse. Now, the Bayou Barbie attempts to return the favor by posting her reaction to Van Lith’s decision. Evidently, Reese shared a picture of her and Van Lith together hours after the transfer news came to the surface. She captioned her Instagram story as, “love you killa.”

While the reasons are still not clear, there are various speculations that are arising behind her departure. According to some sources, it was because she couldn’t realize her full abilities while at LSU. Being a prolific scorer herself at Louisville, Van Lith adopted a second-fiddle role while Reese and Morrow were seen as their offensive leaders.

With the Cardinals, she was scoring an average of 19.7 points per game in which the field goals accounted for 41.1%. With the defending champions, however, her scoring numbers took a major hit. She averaged 11.6 ppg with 37.8% from the field.

Clearly, it wasn’t good enough for the No. 11. A program with a better role for her would naturally help her draft chances. But what are her options?

Where can Hailey Van Lith enter after leaving Angel Reese and Co.?

Most rumors floating around spell that she is looking into the USC Trojans roster. However, while the Trojans are very much dependent on their guards, specifically JuJu Watkins and McKenzie Forbes, this is exactly an issue. Watkins is believed to be Caitlin Clark’s successor for the WBB. With her bringing in the top-scoring average after Clark ships off to the WNBA, Van Lith may still not be the top gun. In fact, McKenzie Forbes might have more say than she does.

Another option for her would be UConn. However, it is a highly balanced team. Moreover, with Paige Bueckers leading them smoothly, the Wenatchee native may not find a home with the Huskies too. Nevertheless, if she does accept the role of support instead of the lead, she can be a part of the teams that hold serious contentions to win future championships.
