NCAA Men’s Basketball will see another rivalry clash along with the matchup between the Creighton Bluejays and Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Iowa State Cyclones will have the daunting task of facing the undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes.
The Hawkeyes are led by senior Luka Garza, who is already solidifying himself as the Naismith Player of the Year. While he has led the team, the entire roster has been a big part of being undefeated. Their closest game was a 13-point win over the number 16 ranked UNC Tar Heels. This team will be a problem all year.

The Cyclones haven’t been nearly as heralded as the Hawkeyes. They are unranked and currently 1-1, losing their last game to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. This will be a daunting task for them. But do they have a shot?

The chances we see a Cyclones victory are very slim. This is a real early mis-match, but anything is possible this early in the season. However, one of the things that the Hawkeyes have going for them is the fact they have elite talent who have well-built chemistry. Garza taking his name out of the 2020 NBA Draft has served this team well.
The Hawkeyes will start the game with Garza, Joe Wieskamp, Jordan Bohannon, CJ Fredrick, and Connor McCaffrey. This lineup is possibly the most potent starting five in college basketball this season, with production also coming off the bench.

The Cyclones have had extra time to prepare for this game after their match with DePaul was cancelled. The Hawkeyes played a ranked opponent two days ago. They have a balanced starting five with Jalen Coleman-Lands, Solomon Young, Javan Johnson, Rasir Bolton, and Tyler Harris.
As for a prediction, this does seem like a wash. Barring a herculean upset, the Hawkeyes should comfortably win. Their early season form has been historically fantastic, and the unheralded Cyclones will have to pull something off to win this.
