A five-star recruit and one of the top prospects this year, Ja’Kobe Walter is making a lot of noise. The five-star recruit has firmly planted his feet into the realm of stardom. Walter scripted his name in the record books after scoring 28 points on his debut for the Baylor Bears. Following this, he claimed the record for scoring the most points by a freshman on debut. No wonder his parents named him after Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
In addition to this, he also secured 7 rebounds before the Bears closed the night. Further, he stands fourth in the list of points scored in a collegiate debut in the Big 12 Conference. Ja’ Kobe Walter exploded on the court with his aggressive style of play. He landed a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line to go with a 7 of 13 from the floor. Moreover, he successfully scored 4 shots from behind the arc and had 13 points to his name before the first half.
Walter was instrumental in his team’s comeback as the Bears were trailing by 9 points at halftime. He transformed his game and channeled his inner Mamba in the second half. He scored the first eight points for the Bears and closed the gap to just 1 point. Eventually, Baylor rallied through the Tigers to go ahead and managed to hold on to the lead in the closing moments of the game.

The 6-foot-5 guard from McKinney High School is a top-class recruit for the Baylor Bears. Walter had impressive numbers as a junior in High School. He maintained an average of 23.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game to help McKinney become state champions. Furthermore, the 2023 McDonald’s All-American has also represented the USA in the Nike Hoops Summit. Additionally, he is the No.1 ranked shooting guard in the class of 2023 and is placed 8th overall.
Walter has made a cracking debut for the Baylor Bears in their season opener. Moreover, he inspired the hard-fought victory of his team to make a perfect start to their campaign. Fans will be hoping he keeps on tumbling records and handing Baylor their second national title.
