The Lady Tigers are roaring out loud. After an impressive campaign in their regular season, the defending champions are still making a lot of noise with their ruthless and ferocious style of play. Apparently, Kim Mulkey and her crew absolutely decimated the Auburn Tigers in front of a sold-out Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Moreover, they also managed to make the night historic during the process. It looks like Angel Reese and Co. entered the court on Friday night with the purpose of making Auburn pay for their previous defeat. And they did just that.
A jam-packed crowd witnessed LSU at their absolute best in the quarter-finals of the SEC tournament. Apart from setting the record straight, they also created one. The Tigers’ 30-point victory became their second-largest win in the SEC tournament, and the largest in the tournament since 2008. Their superstar, Angel Reese, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds on the night, hopped onto Instagram and shared SECNetwork’s post on her stories, rejoicing about the win. The defending champions didn’t look back after their annihilation in the first quarter with a 27-5 lead.
Flau’jae Johnson tore apart Auburn’s defense, scoring 13 of those points. Moreover, the Lady Tigers were also flawless in their defense allowing just 1 out of 17 Auburn shots. Things got tighter in the second quarter as the No.7 seeded Tigers were able to score 14 points in response to LSU’s 16. However, there was still a lot of catching up to do as the first half ended at 43-19.

Unfortunately, Auburn couldn’t capitalize on the momentum as the Lady Tigers firmed their grip in the third quarter. They built an unassailable 39-point lead and ended any chance of a comeback. Despite Auburn scoring 17 points in the final quarter, it was all left to a mere formality with the Lady Tigers wrapping it up for the night at 78-48.
