Apart from stacking her trophy cabinet, she had inspired a lot of young basketball stars in the country. Moreover, the 42-year-old star has continued to do so as she recently got a collegiate team on its feet with her heartwarming gesture. Two months later, Bird reunited with her former teammate in Tuesday night’s WNBA game.

The 4x WNBA Champion Bird hung her boots in the previous edition of the WNBA league. The veteran baller completed her 19-year-long hooping career, along with a joint record with the most championship trophies in 2022. Ever since her retirement, Bird continued to witness games from the courtside and inspire the upcoming hoopers.

Sue Bird shared a heartwarming moment with her former teammate

During the Tuesday night clash between the New York Liberty and the Seattle Storm, Sue Bird shared a moment with the Liberty forward, Breanna Stewart. Notably, Stewart played alongside Bird in the Seattle franchise and won two championship rings. However, during the off-season, Stewie signed up for the Liberty.

Moreover, the WNBA world considered this trade as the balance of power in the league. Additionally, the league has gained more traction this season, as Brittney Griner returned to the hardwood after months of hiatus. 

The Liberty star reached out to Sue Bird, who was sitting on the courtside after the game, and hugged it out. In response to the moment, fans in the arena reached out to their phones and captured the wholesome moment. 

The New York franchise registered a comfortable 8-point victory over the Storm with Stewart leading the offense with 25 points.

Two months ago, when March Madness went haywire in the hoops community, Sue Bird had her own March Madness moment with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Notably, Caitlin Clark emerged as the find of the tournament with her brilliance on the court. Moreover, Bird doubled the excitement when she visited the team on the court ahead of their semifinal clash.

The team reached the finals but unfortunately succumbed to the LSU Tigers as the Angel Reese magic did the trick.
