Danny Green is no longer a part of the Los Angeles Lakers. The three-time NBA champion is now part of the Philadelphia 76ers, after being traded from the Lakers to OKC. OKC then sent him to the 76ers in exchange for Al Horford.

Danny Green is a veteran in the NBA. He joined the league in 2010, going to the Cleveland Cavaliers. After stints with G-league teams, Green made a name for himself with the San Antonio Spurs. Green set the record for most three-pointers made in the NBA finals, a record that was broken later by Klay Thompson.

After seven years with the San Antonio Spurs, Green went to the Toronto Raptors with Kawhi Leonard in a trade that saw DeMar DeRozan join San Antonio. With the Toronto Raptors, he and Kawhi Leonard won a second NBA championship together. Green was a crucial part of the Raptors team against the Golden State Warriors in the finals.

After a second championship win, Green left the Raptors and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency. He was the third highest-paid star on the team, earning $15 million per season. With the Lakers, Green was the third option for the team, especially from the three-point line.

Additionally, Green was a primary defender for the team. He was an important piece for the Lakers as they won their 17th NBA championship, and he joined an elite list of players to win three NBA championships with three different teams.

Dany Green spoke to Fox Sports about his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and winning a championship with them. Green said that while he wanted to stay with the Lakers, he was glad for the opportunity. He said, “Of course, any time you get a chance to win with a team, you want to try to run it back with that team. You make a home with the organization, the team, the players, the roster and within the city. Obviously, it’s up and down with the city and the fans and things like that.”

Green wanted to return to the Lakers, but he understood that they wanted to improve their quality in order to make another run for a championship. He doesn’t harbor ill will towards the team’s front office and said, “But I built a home and I loved the area where I was living. Nobody likes to move. I think anybody would want to go back, especially with winning and a great city like that. But at the same time, I’m not mad about it. … I know exactly what I signed up for before I got here.”

Danny Green will team up with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons when the Philadelphia 76ers begin the new season. Green will add solid three-point shooting and defensive work rate to a solid 76ers squad.
