The Los Angeles Lakers have channeled their inner Kobe Bryant throughout the Playoffs. Wearing their Black Mamba jerseys, not only did they show Portland Trail Blazers the face of defeat, but they also went up against the Houston Rockets and ended the series within five games. Now, they have showcased another miraculous performance against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Kobe Bryant came to their rescue once again, this time in the form of Anthony Davis.

The similarity between Kobe Bryant and Anthony Davis’ shot

The Lakers clawed their way back from a possible defeat in Game 2 against the Nuggets- LeBron James‘ fourth quarter struggle was indicative of that. However, Anthony Davis’ buzzer-beater saved the Lakers from the humiliation they would have received. Rajon Rondo was behind the perfect pass that helped Davis get that basket and finish the game with a score of 105-103.

With just 2.1 seconds left in the game, Davis made a three-pointer which had a weird resemblance to Kobe Bryant’s buzzer-beater back in the day. On January 1, 2010, the Lakers were up against the Sacramento Kings. With just 4.1 seconds to go, Kobe Bryant hit a buzzer-beater that landed the Lakers to a score of 109-108, thus beating the Kings. What’s crazy is that they put took the shot from the same spot and Davis was wearing the Mamba Jersey while taking it.

If it weren’t for LeBron’s cold second quarter and the Lakers’ foolish turnovers, this match might have not reached to such a close-call. However, this absolute cracker would have never happened. Other than that, the Nuggets’ stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray really made it count in the last quarter. Their fire also made it so tough for the Lakers to get this win under their belt.

Can the Lakers pull through from here?

The legendary Kobe Bryant’s ultimate goal had always been to win as many championships as possible. And now, thanks to Davis, the Lakers are just a few games away from achieving a ring. It seems highly unlikely that the Nuggets will turn it around from here. But, if they can come back from a 3-1 deficit twice in one season, there is nothing they can’t do. The Lakers need to avoid the silly errors they made this time and not give any room to the Nuggets to invade.
