Gordon Hayward was all over the news for signing a lucrative four-year $120 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets. While the Boston Celtics fans were not pleased with his decision, it looks like Hayward is celebrating the new phase of his career with his family on Thanksgiving.
However, it looks like the Thanksgiving turkey that Gordon had didn’t look at all celebratory. His wife Robyn posted a video of the disastrous looking turkey and wrote, “Is this how it’s supposed to look?” and “This just isn’t right, hahaha! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!”

The best reaction was the one asking the Hornets to reconsider the deal after looking at the turkey.

Why did Gordon Hayward sign with the Hornets?
Hayward isn’t getting any younger. The 30-year-old guard declined his $34 million player option with the Celtics, and the Hornets’ hefty offer might be the biggest reason. As he ages, his market value will only drop. Thus, getting a big contract while he still could seemed like the best way to go.

Everyone thought this was an overpay for somebody who might not be in his prime anymore. But because the team hasn’t shown a sign of competitiveness for over a decade now, they will need to draw up big contracts to lure in big free agents.
Gordon’s future with his new team looks promising. This is because he is being given a better role to play here than in the Celtics. In Boston, he would be a third or fourth forward option. However, with Charlotte, he has the chance to show that he can thrive and be the top player with a stellar young supporting cast.
The Hornets have also acquired LaMelo Ball in this year’s draft. Therefore, Hayward’s presence will take some pressure off of Melo. And let’s not forget the veteran experience Hayward brings to the table. This will be much needed for a young team that has no playoff experience.

It will be unlikely for the Hornets to become a contender immediately. But Hayward sure can help in creating some impact in the league.
