Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most exciting players in the NBA. ‘The Greek Freak’ is coming off his second consecutive MVP award.

He now stands among players like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Steph Curry, for winning consecutive MVP awards. On top of this, Antetokounmpo won the Defensive Player of the Year award this year as well.

Giannis was underwhelming as a draft pick when he first entered the NBA, but has proven everyone wrong since. But ‘The Greek Freak’ isn’t the only Antetokounmpo in the NBA. His brothers Thanasis and Kostas are NBA players as well.

For Giannis, the accolades he has won so far do not matter. His ultimate goal remains to win an NBA Championship. For the past two playoff seasons, Giannis has failed to make it out of the Eastern Conference Finals.

In 2019, the Bucks were dismantled by Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors. In the 2020 Playoffs, the Bucks were eliminated by the Miami Heat. The latter elimination stung because it happened in the Conference Semi-finals, and Giannis suffered an injury during the game.

The Bucks will be looking to convince Antetokounmpo to stay in free agency next season, and the best way to do that would be to prove they can be contenders.

A Champ in the family, but not Giannis

However, Giannis wouldn’t even be the first player from his own family to win the NBA Championship. In the 2020 Playoffs, Kostas Antetokounmpo became an NBA Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The family now has an NBA Champion among their ranks, but most people would’ve expected Giannis to be the one to bring the Larry O’Brien trophy to the family.

Since Kostas returned from the NBA bubble, Giannis has noted that Kostas has ‘changed’ after becoming a champion. He posted some videos hyping up his brother’s accomplishment.

It’s great to see Giannis Antetokounmpo supporting his brother. And this playful banter among two siblings is enjoyable to watch.
