The NBA offseason is a wild place, to say the least. There is a constant influx of possible trades, probable free agents the team is going to sign, to probable players the teams will draft.
Recently ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that there were talks between OKC thunder and the LA Lakers about a possible trade for Dennis Schroder.
This was followed by a series of tweets from Woj. Just a few minutes after he tweeted that the trade was all but finalized, Twitter was shocked to see how fast trade changed from a possibility to a sure thing in just a matter of minutes. One of them turned out to Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell tweeted, “I love how Woj tweets go from…. “this trade is a possibility” to “this trade is in advanced talks” then to “trade is done” in a matter of 10 minutes”
Wojnarowski responded to Mitchell and told him that things move fast when it comes to free agency news, and he has to keep up.
Keep up, Donovan. Things move fast!

The future of Mitchell & Jazz
There are some teams in the NBA that have been away from all the off-season rumors and trade talks. Mitchell and his Jazz have been one of them.
Utah with their two stars Rudy Gobert and Mitchell had a 44-28 record. This was good enough for a 6th place finish in the Western Conference. The Jazz crashed out of the Playoffs in a crushing 7 game series against the Denver Nuggets.
The Jazz will look to strengthen the squad this offseason and will try to provide the roster with more support on the defensive end.

Earlier this month, reports had emerged about three teams being interested in trading for Gobert. The departure of the Frenchman might derail the Jazz’s playoff hopes. This might also result in a trade possibility for their other star.
Denver can be a suitable destination for Mitchell. The Nuggets have young tradable assets in Gary Harris, Will Barton, Monte Morris, PJ Dozier, and this can be enough for them to trade for Donovan Mitchell and Royce O’Neale.
Denver will have a fabulous backcourt with Murray and Mitchell, along with a high IQ center in Nikola Jokic. Jazz on the other hand can focus on a full rebuild.

The New Orleans Pelicans received Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and Lonzo Ball in the Davis trade. While Ingram stepped up his game, Ball and Hart under-performed. The Pelicans can package a trade with their 13th Overall Pick, Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart for Mitchell.
The Pelicans with Mitchell, Zion Williamson, and Brandon Ingram is a team that will easily make the Playoffs next season and also compete for NBA titles in the future. Utah can look to rebuild with a valuable pick, a two-way guard in Jrue Holiday, and two young prospects.
