Home/NBA

From Tuesday onwards, teams started arriving in Orlando for the NBA return. The Nuggets, Magic, and the Suns are a few teams that have already arrived at the bubble. The teams will be at a hotel for a few days, will move on to the bubble only after testing negative. The teams barely arrived and players already started sharing pictures of the food they were being served. And it doesn’t look pretty.

Nuggets sharpshooter Troy Daniels shared a picture of the food at the hotel, and it immediately led to an uproar on Twitter. A lot of comments were regarding how it looked like airplane food. Others talked about how LeBron James wouldn’t touch this food. Even Isaiah Thomas said, “No way Bron eating this LOL.”

In Daniels’ picture, one can see a dinner menu consisting of Fresh Garden Greens, Arugula, Watermelon, Pickled Red Onions, Goat Cheese with Raspberry Vinaigrette, Tomato, and Mozzarella Caprese Salad, Italian Grilled Chicken with Natural Jus, Whitefish with Tomato and Dill Topping, Parmesan Polenta with Sundried Tomatoes, Pasta with Impossible Bolognese Sauce and Roasted Summer Vegetables

However, later Nets youngster Chris Chiozza shared a picture of what that dinner meal actually looked like. And it seemed worse.

Will the NBA continue to serve this food to their athletes?

Many players are particular about their meals and what they consume. So, many of them would be upset looking at this. But Marc Stein from The New York Times had some relieving news for the players.

He tweeted saying, “Food in the NBA bubble changes after quarantines are completed. Player meals won’t look like airline trays after the first 48 hours.” Donovan Mitchell was surprised by how he knew about the situation and replied asking, How you know?” Stein then assured that this was only till they were quarantined.

ESPN’s Malika Andrews had talked about how the procedure is in Orlando. She had arrived a week ago and said that players will need to be quarantined for two days before they actually enter the bubble. They will need to clear the tests on both days. After that, they will trade in their quarantine bands for the Oura ring as they head into the bubble.

So it looks like the NBA players will just have to deal with this ‘airplane food’ for a couple of days. After this, they will begin their team workouts for a week and then head into the scrimmages starting July 22. After six days of scrimmage, there’ll be a two-day break, and starting July 30, the NBA will officially be back in action.
