With records breaking here and there, Kyle Lowry did not want to be left behind. In January, Lowry became the all-time leader in assists from his team Toronto Raptors. He dethroned former Raptor’s player, Jose Calderon. Once the season resumed in the Orlando Bubble and the matches began again, Lowry was closing in on the total number of assists by Michael Jordan in his career.

The Toronto Raptors put up a fantastic fight against the Los Angeles Lakers in their last game. They came out victorious with a score of 107-92. They were successful in putting pressure on one of the most popular teams and made them fear losing their standing at the moment.

In the game against Miami Heat, the top scorer was Fred VanVleet followed by Pascal Siakam. Despite not being one of the top scorers, Kyle Lowry has taken the spotlight because he just beat Michael Jordan in the total number of assists in the career. Jordan had a total of 5,633 assists and directly behind him was Kyle Lowry with a total number of 5,629 assists.

Now, that he has five more assists from his match against Heat, he has crossed Jordan. He has a total number of 5,634 assists. The Raptors even won the match with a close score of 107-103. The Heat were 17 points down at one point but did pick up the pace to only lose by 4 points.

Lowry is not at all a stranger to creating and beating records. He is also the seventh player in the history of the NBA to achieve 25 points and 10 assists in a Finals-clinching win. The other players who belong to this list are Larry Bird, LeBron James, Walt Frazier, Micheal Jordan, Stephen Curry, and James Worthy.

What’s next for Kyle?

As for the assists, his next target will be to cross Chauncy Billups ( 5,636), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ( 5,660) and Larry Bird (5,695). The Raptors have really outdone themselves this time and will be facing Orlando Magic on Thursday, August 6. The Raptors are second in the seeds and the Orlando Magic are 7th currently. This may mean that the Raptors won’t have a tough time against Magic.
