If you’re a two-time NBA champion, a fierce rival of the Chicago Bulls in the 90s and the most hated player in the books of Michael Jordan, your name is Isiah Thomas. Yes, MJ disliked Isiah so much that he carries the hatred with him, even today.

But, on the sunny side, the GOAT did have a major compliment for Isiah Thomas. He named him the second-best point guard in history after Magic Johnson. Though the pair had their share of differences, even MJ could not deny how good the 6-foot-1 Isiah was in his prime.

The undisputed leader of the ‘Bad Boys Pistons,’ Isiah was the architect of the team, playing as a point guard. He had a major height disadvantage, but allowed none of that to get inside his head. Isiah had a tremendous game. He had the speed, he had the layups, he had the passing, you name it. His skill-set contained everything that makes you a champion.

The 59-year-old made a recent appearance on Inside the Green Room, a podcast channel hosted by Harrison Sanford and Lakers star, Danny Green. The Pistons legend dived into explaining a wide range of topics from his snub from the 92’ ‘Dream Team,’ to his favorite point guards in the NBA.

Isiah Thomas is a big fan of Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving

Having been extremely successful in his prime, Isiah described how the “little guys” face a major obstacle coming up against the long and tall wing players and the forwards. He mentions that all the guards need to have more intellect than the other players.

He cited LeBron as an example, for a player who is strong, and hardly makes any mistakes on the court. These types of players are the toughest to guard, according to the former NBA champion.

Isiah mentioned how he watches Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving make their moves on the court. As we all know, Steph is probably the greatest three-pointer shooter in recent times, while Kyrie just spins the heads of the defenders with his insane handles. Both these guys are smaller compared to the height of an average NBA player.

“But Steph right now and Kyrie, every time those two play against each other, to me that’s must-see TV man, from a little guy perspective,” he said. Isiah mentioned how it is hard to rank these players and called it an acquired taste.

However, Chris Paul did not jump to the back of Isiah’s mind. He did not add CP3 into the list because he entered the NBA way back. According to him, CP3 belongs in a different category but is just as good a guard as Curry and Irving.

Isiah Thomas gave his verdict on how shorter guys perform in the NBA. We have been seeing a visual representation of it in the current game, especially from Steph Curry and Kyrie. These two have been phenomenal with their ball handling and their shooting.
