LeBron James was impressed with the performance of the 20-year old rookie from Murray State, Ja Morant, after his match-winning performance on Saturday.
Morant’s double-double with 27 points and 14 assists led the Grizzlies to an impressive win over the James’ Lakers.
“The kid is super special,” James said after the game as per ESPN. “Like I said when we just played him in L.A., Memphis got a great one. They got a great one. So, the sky’s the limit for the kid.”

Morant, quite uniquely, dedicated his performance on Saturday to a Twitter troll.

LeBron James to face another rookie after Ja Morant
Morant’s performance meant that the Lakers lost their 13th game in the season. It is the second least in the NBA after the Milwaukee Bucks. After the loss against the Grizzlies, the Lakers immediately play New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. LeBron James will have to face another exciting rookie in the form of Zion Williamson after his clash against Morant.
James and Williamson have already confronted once in the season. While the veteran outperformed the rookie last time, it will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday.

Whatever the result might be, such contests are always exciting to see. These are the kind of contests that will help in the development of the game. The league currently has a rich talent of young players that can take the game forward. James also felt the league is in safe hands in terms of the players evolving.
“I’ve always thought about that. Like, what young guys are coming up in the ranks that will be able to continue to carry it on after I’m gone,” James said. “You look at Ja and you look at Zion. You look at Jayson Tatum, You look at Luka Doncic and Trae Young, and the list goes on and on. Those guys are just not only great on the floor but also, more importantly, off the floor. And that’s a great thing to have. … Our league is in a very, very good place.”
