Rajon Rondo and his impending free agency will become one of the most talked-about things in the upcoming off-season. Rondo is the perfect plug-in point guard for most contending teams, as he will be a rotation player who won’t demand massive contracts. He just won a championship with the LA Lakers, being arguably their third-best player on the court.
Rondo had a player option to opt-in for a third season as an LA Laker. However, he has announced intentions of declining that player option to see what his worth is on the open market. NBA Analyst Skip Bayless believes that Rondo’s next destination should be the LA Clippers.
“That’s the magic move. Rondo to the Clippers would be the difference next basketball season. That would make the Clippers the champion and the Lakers some runner-up. Western conference runner up.”

Bayless also added that this move would be a perfect ‘legacy’ move for Rondo.
“This is the move that would make so much sense for Rondo because it’d be a legacy move.”

Rajon Rondo switches locker rooms in LA?
Rondo going from the Lakers to the Clippers after winning a title could be controversial. While Rondo has every right to explore his options, a move like this may not go down well. However, Rondo doing something like this after revitalizing his career with LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be odd, to say the least.

A big part of Rondo’s success comes from the role he plays on the team. Along with that, the Lakers are full of athletic bigs that can finish some of Rondo’s most audacious passes. Leaving that to join two athletic wings in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George is not bad, but maybe not as ideal as the situation in LA.
Rondo is a natural leader, so he would fulfill that requirement of the Clippers locker room. His floor general nature will help reel the team in when times are tough and may genuinely put them over the top for a title. Now it all depends on Rondo making that move from the Lakers to the Clippers. Either way, he’s going to be in the playoffs next season.
