The Los Angeles Lakers have bagged themselves the first crucial lead of the NBA Finals. Even though for a while it was thought that Miami Heat was going to win Game 1, there is no way Anthony Davis would have let that happen. The LeBron James and Davis duo has been put on a very high pedestal and not without reason. They have together showcased some brilliant playmaking and chemistry on the court, and this night wasn’t any different.

Lakers star duo setting records left and right

What worked for the Lakers was extracting the best from their supporting cast. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Danny Green stood out in the first quarter. Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Alex Caruso, and Markieff Morris were all actively contributing during crucial moments of the game.

Even though these players outshone the Heat’s key bench players, the Lakers star duo continued to take us by surprise. Davis’ finals debut with the Lakers was all we ever dreamed of. With an average record previously in the Playoffs, he has stood out as the player they depend on.

Davis landed a game-high of 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. LeBron became the subsequent high scorer with 25 points but a whopping 13 rebounds and 9 assists. As if winning wasn’t enough, the Lakers seem to be even breaking records ever since they made it to the Playoffs.

And why not create history in an epic game 1 of the NBA Finals? According to ESPN, “Last night marked the 7th game this postseason that LeBron James and Anthony Davis each scored 25 points and shot 50% from the field. That’s the most by any pair of teammates in a single postseason in NBA history.” Surpassing NBA Legends like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen is an honor in itself.

While this loss may be very threatening to the Heat’s future in the remaining series, they have a bigger issue at hand. All-star Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, and Goran Dragic are all ridden by injuries. Therefore, this leaves their playing status under question. Anyone of their absences can jeopardize their chances at the championship.

Do you think the Miami Heat has what it takes to take over the dynamic duo? Let alone the entire Lakers team?
