History repeats itself as we know it. However, in Game 6 between the LA Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks, history repeated too quickly. It was again a banter-turned-physical sort of outing for forward Marcus Morris and guard Luka Doncic.

In Game 5, we saw Marcus and Luka trash-talking, which was followed by the former stepping on to Luka’s injured left foot ankle. The wounds from that game were still fresh when Luka and Morris again got themselves locked in a tussle. This time around the stakes were even high and so was the intensity of the on-court fight.

In the post-game interview, Luka Doncic spoke about how his team’s unity got better in the Orlando Bubble. He also took pride in the way they fought against the Clippers in round 1 of the NBA Playoffs 2020. But he seemed disappointed as he spoke about the incident that caught him off guard.

Luka expressed, “It’s a terrible foul. What can I say, it’s two games in a row he did something like that. I hope so the first game it wasn’t a purpose but looking back at the foul in this game, you know what I think, so it’s just… I don’t wanna deal with that kind of players and just move on.”

We saw the two stars exchanging some remarks in the first quarter. Later on, just one minute remaining in the quarter, Morris hit Luka on his shoulders trying to block him from making a shot. The commentators seemed convinced that it was a flagrant foul. Later, Marus was ejected for the hard foul.

It was a nasty first-round battle between the two franchises

In Game 1, Mavs’ Kristaps Porzingis faced ejection, which arguably led to the Mavs losing the game. Again in Game 5, we had the Mavs forward Tim Hardaway hitting Clippers guard Paul George in his face and receiving ejection. Also, the top scorer for Mavs, Luka Doncic, was involved in some tense exchanges with Montrezl Harrell.

About the latest incident, Marcus Morris did not seem apologetic, either in his tweets or in his post-game interviews. He is being tagged as a dirty player, but the 6’9” cares less about these names. He feels it’s part of the game and that things like these keep happening in the game.

Now the series has ended and we will see how it goes when the Mavs face the Clippers in next season.
