James Wiseman joined the Golden State Warriors after they selected him as the number two overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Wiseman was one of the biggest prospects in the NBA Draft, and the Warriors had their eye on him for some time.
Wiseman joins a Golden State Warriors team that just recently lost Klay Thompson for another season. Thompson injured his right Achilles and is out for the 2020-21 season. Thompson even missed the previous season due to an ACL tear in his left leg.

Many have still predicted that Wiseman will have a good year and be an overall great player for the Warriors. One person who has given their stamp of approval is fellow big-man Kendrick Perkins.
Perkins believes that the Warriors picking Wiseman is fantastic since he has already been trained in the NBA style. He said, “Look, I love the pick. And I’m with both of you guys; you cannot pass up on the 7’1 athletic guy like James Wiseman who has been mentored by Penny Hardaway and Mike Miller. So he’s been already trained in an NBA Style anyway.”

Perkins, a former NBA Champion in his own right, believes the 7’1 big man has limitless potential in the NBA. He said, “Then you throw him alongside a former Defensive Player of the Year like Draymond Green to show him the ropes and mentor him, the sky is the limit for him.”
Perkins was most impressed by Wiseman’s self-belief and determination to be the best and said, “Look, James Wiseman said ‘I do not want to go number one to the Minnesota Timberwolves because Karl-Anthony Towns and I will not fit well together’. That told me a lot about him. That said ‘I want to show the world I’m that guy. I’m very talented and the sky is the limit’.”
Perkins even reiterated how good Wiseman currently was and could be in the future. Perkins considers him a future All-Star and contender for Rookie of the Year. He claimed, “And I really think that he’s going to be a future All-Star and that he’s going to have a phenomenal year. He might be the Rookie of the Year!”

This stamp of approval from Kendrick Perkins is massive because Perkins was a great center in his playing days, as part of the legendary 2008 Boston Celtics. It’ll be fun to see if Wiseman can match up to him, or even eclipse him.
