Steve Kerr said on a video conference call recently that Golden State Warriors are ‘absolutely’ in off-season mode. That’s not even surprising knowing what the Warriors went through last season. While other teams are trying to keep up with the team coordination during the pandemic, GSW sees an end to their season.

Warriors have had a rough season after the departure of Kevin Durant. But Durant’s trade was not the only reason for such a downfall in the performance. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, both the sagas of Warriors were on the bench, injured. The team finished quite low in the table and got eliminated from the playoffs as well. GSW got off to a poor start to the season and it was the worst since 2000. They even recorded their first 10-game losing streak in the league.

With 15 wins and 50 losses, Warriors disappointed their fans to a great extent after years. On a video call, Steve Kerr mentioned how the team believes it to be the end of their season. While other teams are looking for ways to keep up with the team spirit on Zoom calls, GSW seems to be in a different zone. “It’s different for us because we were down to 17 games, but we were out of the playoffs,” Steve said, “It feels like the end of the season for our team. It just does.”

Well, clearly Golden State Warriors are in a transition phase with the team falling apart. They will be eyeing the next free agency period surely. For now, “It feels like the offseason,” Steve Kerr admitted, “We don’t know anything officially. There’s still a chance the league could ask us to come back and play some games, but given what we went through this season with all the injuries and the tough record, it’s been more of the case of we’re staying in touch with guys, but everybody is just sort of assuming that this is kind of it. We’re not going to be involved much anymore.”

Steve went on to give updates on team planning just like the off-season days, “In fact, we had a Zoom call, (general manager) Bob Myers and I got on a Zoom with our players, our whole roster last week. And it was just a chance to check-in. But it was also a chance for Bob to update the players on his contact with the league and the latest news, but it also kind of felt like our annual team exit meeting. Our coaching staff and I have been undergoing staff evaluations, offseason plans. So we are absolutely in offseason mode right now.”
