When the NBA resumes inside a bubble in Orlando, the players might step on to the courts wearing titanium rings. The Oura rings, as they are called, will detect whether the bearer is feeling 100% fit. The rings will monitor the players’ heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and temperature to check the person’s vulnerability to COVID-19. Toronto Raptors’ Serge Ibaka shared one such ring on Sunday on social media.
Ibaka posted a short video clip on Twitter showcasing the ring, estimated to have been priced over $300.

Players will have the option to wear the device when the season resumes in Orlando. While inside the bubble, all the players need to follow a set of guidelines that the NBA has set. Anyone who leaves the campus will have to self-quarantine and will miss the compensation for the games during that period.

As the players get ready for the league’s restart, Ibaka said the players in his team are ready for action again.
“I saw just how everyone is in great shape,” Ibaka said on a conference call with reporters Saturday (H/T ESPN). “They came here in great shape and as soon as we got here everyone was starting to put in work. I’ve been in the league for 11 years. You can see when people’s locked in and they are ready mentally, and when they are not.
“So I can tell you right now, mentally, everybody is ready. Everybody is ready.”

The Raptors might have won the championship last year, but the team does not look the same without Kawhi Leonard. In spite of having lost a star man, they had a great 2019/20 season. The Raptors were second in the Eastern Conference prior to the league’s suspension.
The Raptors will restart their campaign with on August 1 with a game against Los Angeles Lakers. They later play Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and Boston Celtics before games against Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks. The Raptors will end their seeding games after playing Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets.
