Paul George was practically absent for the first 4 games of the series, putting up less-than-impressive stats. But Paul George put a stop to his critics after a historic performance in Game 5 vs the Mavericks. He scored 35 points in just 25 mins with an efficient 12-18 shooting display.
Even when the basketball world was bashing George for his poor form, his teammates believed in him. Clippers center Ivica Zubac was confident in George prior to Game 5.
“We all know who he is, we all trust him. He’s one of the best players in the league. He knows that, we know that. We’re just going to give him support. Even if he’s not shooting well, he’s doing a lot of other stuff to helping us win the games,” said Zubac.

Zubac further believes the worst days are behind the Clippers as a team.
“We’re not the underdogs anymore. We’re not coming into the gym and they’re looking at us like we’re some team that anyone can beat. We’re favorites, but we’ve gotta act like. Doc always says we’re the best team, but we gotta act like it,” added the Clippers center.

As Zubac said, Clippers are not underdogs by a long shot. Adding Paul George and Kawhi Leonard changed fortunes in Los Angeles, and a championship does not look like a far-fetched dream now.

In fact, the tables could have turned in favor of the Mavs if Porzingis was fit. Paul George needs to stay in his groove to defeat the Mavs. Furthermore, the competition will only get tougher ahead in the Playoffs. When Paul George performs well, the Clippers become a different beast. We witnessed the show they put on with in-form PG in Game 5.
Whichever team clinches this series either way, the fans are in for one of the best series in the 2020 NBA playoffs.
