As if the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks matchup wasn’t intense enough, an added touch of a player’s injury surely did the job. Clippers forward Marcus Morris stepped on Mavericks star Luka Doncic‘s already sprained ankle. This incident created a lot of stir and speculations regarding Marcus’ intentions. There was some blame game of him doing this intentionally so that Luka is unable to play in the remaining series.
Luka is the player around which Mavericks build their entire offense. If he is unable to play, it will wreak havoc for the team.

It all happened when Doncic was waiting on an inbound pass and Morris jogged towards him from the left-wing. In that momentum, Morris’ landed on the back of Doncic’s left foot which knocked his shoe off. What’s worse is that Luka had already injured this foot previously because of which he was listed questionable for the rest of the games. However, he continued to play after his first injury and now this can make the already existing situation worse.
It was later that Morris was found justifying himself on twitter and denied all allegations against him. “I play this game with a level of respect for myself and other players. To think I would try to injure somebody is crazy to me. 10 years going against the best. I stand on morals and hard work. I compete and leave it out there every game.” explained Marcus.

He further posted, “Basketball has never been that serious to try to hurt somebody. I’m not apologizing for shit because I know what I put into this game day in and day out. It was a mistaken deal with it. Competing is why I play.”

Skip Bayless comments on the rising controversy
On Undisputed, Bayless repeats the tweets that Marcus posted on Twitter. He then complimented Morris and said, “Marcus Morris is obviously an emerging team leader” and then asserted, “He has always been a tough guy and he has some enforcer in him. I believe he was enforcing against Luka Doncic. And I’m going to tell you why he was enforcing because Luka, more than ever, was whining over every single call last night.”
He mocks Luka for cribbing to the referee’s about the calls and said that it’s because he’s a star now. Skip exclaimed, “After a while, I tweeted just play!”.
