Not everyone is having the season as good as Damian Lillard. Case in point, JR Smith.
Smith cruised into the Los Angeles Lakers side just prior to the Orlando Bubble NBA restart. The Lakers signed JR mainly to fill the vacant position of Avery Bradley. But Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, or Dion Waiters get the most playtime, and JR is not as extensively rotated.
However, JR remains in the news for the antics he keeps pulling. Very recently, Kyle Kuzma surprised everyone with a buzzer-beater three-pointer against the Denver Nuggets. He received a high-five from a big-on-adrenaline JR, who later emptied a water bottle on Kyle as he entered the locker room.

JR Smith complained about bringing just seven pairs of underwear, also exposed the ‘bubble trouble’ videos, and gave super funny interviews.
JR Smith now has a peculiar demand for Damian Lillard and Lou Williams
He must have gotten bored with the off-time in the Bubble, as they last played and lost against the Sacramento Kings on August 13 and have the next game on August 18 against the Portland Trail Blazers. So Swish decided to use his Instagram account to post a challenge. He wrote in one of his stories, “Small request from the OG, can @Damianlillard an @Louwillville drop a mixtape collab? Just asking for a friend….”
Lakers’ #21 was not making a cold call there. He received a response from Damian Lillard, who accepted the challenge with open arms. He confirmed, “That’s easy”.
LA Clippers point guard Lou Williams is yet to react to this request-cum-demand from the happy-go-lucky JR Smith. So what all will be included in this mix tape collab? ‘Speed-it-up’ by Gunna, ‘Going Bad’ by Drake or something else? We don’t have an answer to this as of now.

JR is a dependable 3-point shooter who can make up for the weak offense of the Lakers. He had been inactive before joining the Lakers as he played only 11 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018-19. So expecting him to have played longer minutes in the seeding games was asking too much.

In the regular season, he has appeared in 6 games, where he timed 13.2 minutes per game and got 2.8 points, 0.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, and 0.2 steals per game. His playoff experience can come in handy to the Lakers, given that he has played with LeBron James when they won the championship in 2016. Let’s see how it unfolds in the post-season, as per head coach Frank Vogel’s calculations.
