The Los Angeles Lakers got the better of the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, defeating them 102 to 96. The Lakers will be looking to close out the series and secure their 17 NBA title in Game 5. While the performances of LeBron James and Anthony Davis stood out in the box score, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s performance was of huge importance in the win, and Kyle Kuzma had kind words for him after the game.

After suffering an unexpected and disappointing defeat in Game 3, thanks to Jimmy Butler’s historic 40 point triple-double, the Lakers had to bounce back. And players aside from James and Davis would have to step up. That is exactly what KCP did, scoring 15 points, including three important 3-pointers with the game in the balance. Along with this, he had 5 assists and 3 rebounds in one of his better performances with the Lakers.

Caldwell-Pope has been in the NBA for almost 7 years now, being drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 2013 as the 8 overall pick. Since then, he signed with the Lakers as a free agent. This is only his second Playoffs appearance and his first trip to the NBA Finals. A perennial squad player for most of his career, KCP showed in Game 4 that he can bring more to the ‘Lake Show’.

After the game, Kyle Kuzma of the Laker’s spoke with Spectrum SportsNet. When asked about KCP’s game and those important shots, ‘Kuz’ said “Huge shots. Kenny’s built for this, he’s been through the mud the whole season, he’s a strong individual and I’m happy for him. He made some big plays to really help catapult us to a win.”

Caldwell-Pope will be looking to replicate his performance in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, with the NBA Championship up for grabs.
