Luck may have played a huge role in the Philadelphia 76ers’ win against San Antonia Spurs. This is the second game in a row in which the 76ers were climbing towards an obvious win. However, the last quarter has not worked much in their favor. Even in their first match against the Pacers on Saturday, August 1, the 76ers managed to give them 46 points in the final moments of the game. T.J. Warren scored his career-high of 53 points and the Pacers won 127-121.

If it weren’t for Shake Milton, the 76ers would have lost to the Spurs as well. On Monday, August 3, the Spurs dropped 43 on them which the 76ers outlasted with Milton’s three-pointer with 6.1 seconds remaining on the clock. They escaped with a victory of 132-120.

“I think it stinks,” Sixers coach Brett Brown said after the team’s two consecutively disappointing fourth quarters. “I think it’s not anything that we believe in or talk about. We were very lucky to win tonight. In two closeout periods, against Indiana it was 46, tonight it was 43 … that’s not going to get anything of any importance done.”

Brett also said,It is well within our reach, immediately, to flip the switch. We have to have an immediate paradigm switch and an admittance we can’t afford to pick and choose. The past two games, we have done that. I give credit to Indiana and tonight to the Spurs … but in general, it ain’t going to get it done. It’s not who we are, and it needs to be fixed, and fixed it will be.”

However, he also had some words of appreciation for Shake Milton.” We needed it,” he said about Milton’s presence of mind in the last game and the game-winning three-pointer he scored. … He wasn’t guarded, they threw him the ball, and he didn’t think. He just shot it. Shake, it’s quite clear he’s an articulate and intelligent man. And the poise and grace he goes about his business with was reflected in that moment. He was very calm. I thought he was great tonight.”

Philadelphia 76ers move down to the sixth seed

The Indiana Pacers have broken the fifth seed tie with the Philadelphia 76ers and taken the position for themselves. Joel Embiid opens up about what’s going wrong and how to make it work for the matches ahead.

“We got to do a better job,” Joel Embiid said. “We want to be the best defensive team in the league, so we have to just take the challenge. It’s not just the fourth quarter. It’s the whole game. The last two games, we haven’t been able to keep our man in front of us, and I have to do a better job of protecting the rim and making sure I can correct some mistakes.”
