A lot will be on the line when the Portland Trail Blazers play the Los Angeles Lakers in the post-season round. It is LeBron James’ first outing in the playoffs with the Lakers. On the other side, we have Damian Lillard and his unit who have worked very hard to deserve that #8 seeding.

The last time these two teams met, Big Game Dame scored 48 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was just one rebound short of converting the triple-double. On paper, it might appear to be a one-sided tournament, but in reality, it is going to be a cut-throat competition.

Blazers beat the Grizzlies to ensure their seeding. In the post-game interview, Damian Lillard was asked about their chances against the Lakers. He responded with utmost confidence, saying, “I’ve been seeing everybody saying what we’re going to do to the Lakers. But the Lakers, they’re the #1 seed in the West for a reason. They got the best player in the world on that team. But at the same time, we didn’t fight as hard as we fought in the bubble to just say we’re the 8th seed, go out there and just get beat up on.”

This is the mentality that can help them pull an upset over the Lakers. Dame also discussed at length the idea of good leadership and emphasized on the fact that taking feedback positively and working on the laggings also showcase a form of leadership. We couldn’t agree more with him when he also claimed, “We have a chance in the series against anybody in this league.” This comment also signifies that his eyes are set on the NBA title and not just round 1.

Damian Lillard and his unit is hungry

Last year, the Portland Trail Blazers reached the Conference Finals and lost to the Golden State Warriors 0-4. They were just two steps away from lifting their second title since 1977.

This year, however, they look very hungry. They have CJ McCollum giving them match-winning performance even with that back injury he has been playing with. Jusuf Nurkic is putting on a brave show even after having lost his grandma just a few days ago. Their power forward Zach Collins has reported left ankle inflammation, but nothing that can stop them from playing with a champion’s spirit.

They will play Los Angeles Lakers starting August 18 every alternate day until the winner is confirmed.
